University of Thessaly, with 18 departments and various research centers, is a university with its own identity and a prominent position in our national education system.
lt was founded in 1984 as the University of Thessaloniki (Presidential Decree 83/1984). lts administrative and academic center is in the city of Volos. The University of Thessaly is spread over the whole region of Thessaly with academic departments in Volos, Larissa, Trikala, Karditsa and Lamia.
University of Thessaly offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs and extra-curricular modules in specific research and business fields, for over 12.000 students. The main mission of the University of Thessaly is the promotion of scientific knowledge through research and contribution to the cultural and economic development of the local community and society in general. lt is known for its excellent research performance and exceptional scientific results, in accordance with international standards.
As part of its future objectives, the University of Thessaly intends to strengthen its cooperation abroad, increase its human resources, update and use existing human resources, attract young scientists and encourage research through the creation of modem research facilities, increase the infrastructure and use its EU resources and funds with the RFSR, FP6, FP7, INTERREG and LIFE research programs. Members of academic and research staff participate in European research networks and numerous innovative research projects in the EC.
The University also brings students into contact with the labor market through its Lifelong Learning Center. As one of the central institutions of the University, the University of Thessaly Lifelong Learning Center supports all the main processes of the University and offers tailor-made training and employment services tailored to ali the basie scientific sectors of the institution.
Certified by the National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Career Guidance (EOPPEP), the Lifelong Learning Center also provides an e-learning platform that aims to improve the educational process by providing a dynamic interactive environment.
As part of the activities and the realization of its objectives, the Lifelong Learning Center of its own initiative implements various projects, whose main objective is to strengthen the development of new tools and innovative solutions linked to the general objectives of the office.
At the moment the UTH Lifelong Learning Center represents a significant experience in various European project initiatives (H2020, Erasmus+, DG Employment, EASME, lnterreg, Erasmus+ Sports, Knowledge of alliances) as a leading organization or as a basic partner.
